Coros Apex 2 Pro

The Apex 2 and Apex Pro 2: new Coros watches suitable for speed surfing.

Coros has conquered a solid market position in the field of sports watches in recent years. Almost all sports are supported, so they can easily compete with Garmin and Suunto. What distinguishes Coros in a positive sense for us is the native support for Speedsurfing. To date, the Coros sports watches are the only ones approved by GPS Speedsurfing.

The GPS chips in the Apex models are now of the same brand as the Vertix 2, Coros' absolute top model. So you can also expect the same accuracy when it comes to speed measurement. The resolution of the data is better than the first Apex Pro (this first generation used the Sony chips), which means that the correction filter intervenes less quickly. The advantage of this is that with extreme (de)acceleration, the data points are adjusted downwards less.

- The Apex 2 differs from the Apex Pro 2 in a few things.
- The battery lasts less, but more than enough for 7 windsurfing days without charging (45 hours with GPS on)
- It is smaller overall and slightly lighter in weight
- The screen is a bit smaller, but just as legible
- The compact size makes the Apex 2 ideal for anyone with narrow wrists, making it the perfect watch for women as well
- The included watch strap (nylon Velcro) is not really suitable for a big guy, it is difficult to get it over your hand. This can be solved by purchasing a silicone strap. You can order these directly from Surfcenter at an extra low price!
- It lacks the Dual Band function (but is suitable for receiving all satellites at the same time). Dual Band is an advantage especially in difficult environments such as high buildings, but Dual Band is not really important for water sports.
- Unlike the Apex Pro, not all world maps are pre-installed.

If your budget is limited and you have narrow hands/wrists, then the Apex 2 is your device. If you opt for the Apex 2 and you have large hands/wrists, order the silicone strap right away.

If you prefer a slightly larger screen and you don't have narrow hands/wrists, choose the Apex 2 Pro. If you really want all the features you can think of in a sports watch, then the Vertix 2 is your watch.
