The highly successful 5-batten sail, the DUKE, made a triumphant return in SS23, and for SS24, it received a fresh makeover.

The DUKE seamlessly integrates the LIGHT DONE RIGHT construction and the latest construction concepts developed over the past decade, establishing a new benchmark for handling sails oriented toward a broad wind range.

The development of the DUKE unfolded over 1.5 years with a strong emphasis on end-users. Regular users of these sails and surf centers played a pivotal role in setting the priorities for the DUKE's reinvention. Here's what they strived for and how they accomplished it:

Maximized Wind Range: The DUKE delivers an exceptional wind range, particularly in shifting and gusty conditions. Being a 5-batten handling sail, it provides heightened control and an extended wind range. To maintain efficiency in lighter winds, the BATTEN FREE CENTER concept from the SUPER_HERO was adopted. This design creates a more substantial gap between the foot batten and the batten above the boom, making it easier to inflate the sail in the boom area while increasing stability at the top due to higher batten density.
Superlight Feel: In contrast to the trend of heavier 5-batten sails in the past decade, substantial construction improvements were made over the last ten years. The introduction of the LIGHT DONE RIGHT CONSTRUCTION in 2022 resulted in a 300g reduction in overall weight, without compromising film thickness or XPly panels. These sails are not only lighter on the scale but also feel lighter in the hands on the water, delivering a superior experience in terms of durability and performance.
