My name is Twan Verseput, and I'm part of Team Surfcenter. I'm 30 years old and have had a passion for speed and speed sailing for many years. I started my sports career as a professional volleyball player but had to stop due to an injury. After that, I embarked on a new challenge: windsurfing!
After lots of training and hours on the water, two years after quitting volleyball, I won my first world title in speed sailing. I managed to turn my setback into something beautiful: enjoying the water every day with friends in the most amazing places and spots you can imagine! I couldn't have imagined this 10 years ago…
I am now a two-time world champion and the holder of the Dutch Speed record. Currently, I have one mission and I'm training hard to make my dream a reality: I want to break the world record in speed sailing! In 2019, I came close to achieving this title: I reached an average speed of 52.49 knots (97 km/h) over 500 meters on the speed channel in Luderitz, Namibia. This is only 0.7 knots slower than the current world record held by Frenchman Antoine Albeau, who already has 24 world titles to his name. Eager for more! Time for new records!
