Gasoil has been a specialist in the field of carbon and windsurf fins for more than 30 years. The team has a spacious workshop where everything is done in-house: from CAD design and simulation to milling the molds on our own 5-axis milling machine. Besides the continuous development of the windsurf fins, the company is engaged in other carbon projects. They are working on (carbon) technology for things like the Volvo Ocean Race, hydrofoils for boats and repairs of carbon parts. In Marseille and the surrounding area, Gasoil is therefore known as a true specialist in the carbon field. A 2 year warranty is therefore also provided on the construction of the fins. Courbe Haut Rendement
CHR stands for Courbe Haut Rendement, translated from French as ''High efficiency curve''. CHR therefore says something about the curve and the design of the fins. Among other things, the curve (In French: Courbe), fin surface and thickness of the profile determine the sailing feeling and the properties of the CHR fins. The CHR line is known for its fast acceleration, fast planing, and good control in high winds.

The CHR line is composed and designed for slalom use. So are you looking for a slalom fin? Then the CHR is most likely the type that is right for you. The CHR is offered in three variants: the CHR-M, the CHR-L & and the CHR-X, each type of CHR Slalom fin has a different feeling and different properties. Different models

• CHR-M
  The fin for a lot of control and high terminal speed!

The CHR-M is the fin to use in rough conditions with high winds. With this fin there is a good chance that you will reach top speeds, even in more wavy or choppy water. Are you looking for control in difficult conditions and want to achieve maximum speeds in difficult conditions? Then the CHR-M is probably right for you. This fin can handle high forces and therefore you can apply a lot of pressure while sailing without creating too much lift or losing control. Compared to the CHR-L, this fin invites maximum pressure on the fin. During your slalom session you can easily and controlled ''rail'' the board (railing is putting your board on its side so that your board comes loose and you will accelerate quickly) by applying sufficient pressure to the fin. Do you like to sail overpowered or do you regularly sail in difficult conditions and are you looking for the limits of speed and control? Then the CHR-M is ideal for you.

• CHR-L
  A good all-rounder & weapon for longer ranges!

The CHR L is the most versatile version of the CHR. It is a neutral fin with a good balance between power, glide and control. The CHR-L is the fin for sailing longer distances or slaloming comfortably without giving too much pressure on the fin with your back leg. The CHR-L is therefore a comfortable fin with good all-round performance. Without too much pressure, this fin already generates enough lift to keep going, which is often ideal for long distances! A less tiring and more relaxed sailing feeling. During a long leg you don't have to constantly put a lot of pressure on your back leg to maintain speed or to continue accelerating. Do you feel a flurry? This fin converts it into lift and therefore you immediately feel the extra power and acceleration during a gust of wind. With the CHR-L you will have little to no problems with spinouts. With the CHR-L you choose a well-considered and balanced relationship between power and lift on the one hand and comfort, convenience and control on the other. The ideal fin for a lot of slalom riders!

The small size CHR-L fins are more focused on control, the medium/mid sizes balanced for optimum power/lift and control and the larger sizes designed for sufficient lift and good landing/glide properties.

• CHR-X
  The 'state of the art' power fin for all experienced (PWA) slalom riders!

Are you looking for maximum performance, control and lift? The CHR-X is designed for all professional (PWA) competition surfers. Do you compete and would you like a lot of lift, terminal speed and control? Or do you want to plan easily after the jibe when rounding the buoy? This fin scores high Alfas (An Alfa is the average speed over 500 meters with a jibe in it; so 250 meters surf, jibe, 250 meters surf, and that is the average speed) and knows how to find its way in whatever conditions . Is sailing on big water something you like to do? This fin is designed to keep maximum control in all kinds of (extreme) conditions. An all-round fin suitable for the explosive and advanced slalom windsurfer! With the CHR-X you do not opt for a compromise but simply for a mix of the best features combined!

Hardness options:

In general, a harder fin provides more control and a softer fin provides more lift and therefore a smaller wet surface of the board. This means that only the fin and a small part of the tail of the board will touch the water while sailing. The softer a fin is, the more it flexes in the water, generating lift. The stiffer a fin is, the less it moves and the less lift is created. This often keeps the board calmer and more controllable. The hardness of a fin certainly also influences the properties of a fin.

Hardness H (hard)

Construction: The fin is strong and rigid throughout its length. The fibers used are oriented in such a way that they regularly block the flex, so that the fin moves less in the water. These fins are stiff and bend less

Behaviour: These fins do not bend easily/minimal which helps to keep the board under control. On the other hand, the lift effect is limited and the board is less likely to lie loose on the water.

Hardness M (average)

Construction: The fin remains very stiff on the upper part (first two-thirds of the fin from the base) with little bending. The tip of the fin is more flexible and free. The fibers used on the last (third) part offer less resistance to bending stresses.

Behaviour: this fin only bends slightly with the tip of the fin. This provides more lift compared to the hard variant. Similar to the lift effect of a foil, but a lot less powerful of course. This is certainly noticeable compared to the rigid variant. You will also notice that this fin will be a little more difficult to control in rough or overpowered conditions. The loss of control is quite limited compared to the H variant.

Hardness S (soft)

Construction: This fin is held well on the top two thirds and the last third is very flexible. The same effect as the M variant, but much more bendable. By using a different, more flexible material, the flex in the tip of the fin is greatly increased.

Behaviour: The lower third of the fin bends at a considerable angle during sailing and provides a strong lifting effect. The board rides on the fin, with a reduction in the wet surface of the board, but you will notice that this fin offers less control, especially when the wind increases. Compared to the M variant, this fin has considerably less control and more lift.
