Severne iQFoil HGO 8.0

After sailing on the same set for a long time, many Olympic windsurfers agreed: Olympic windsurfing had to change. World Sailing organized the Sea Trials, a test in which several windsurf and wind foil sets were presented and tested. After much deliberation, this test was won by the iQFoil set from Starboard and Severne and it was named the material for the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Part of this race foil set is the Severne HyperGlide Olympic, abbreviated HGO. The sail is available in sizes 8.0 to 10.0. Of this selection, the HGO 8.0 is the sail used by the women competing in official iQFoil competitions. The younger competition foilers in the iQFoil Youth U19 class also use this sail. The larger version, the HGO 9.0, is only used by the men in official competitions.

The sail is suitable for both course racing and slalom foiling, which means that you can sail very close to the wind with it, but can also reach very fast with it. In addition, you can also sail on the fin with the HGO. This makes it a very all-round foil sail that can quickly bring even novice foilers to a competitive level.

Although the sail has 7 battens and 4 cambers in each size, it is incredibly light and rotates very well. Creating maximum control has therefore been one of the most important aspects in the design of this fantastic racing foil sail.
